I’m into the last week’s training for our local running event; La Tournée des Cuviers. There are two races – 17km and 8km; a Randonée Pédestree of 10km and a children’s running event. Due to injury, and DIY induced fatigue, my running friends and I have decided to keep to the shorter route as opposed to the scheduled 17km; after all the long Sunday runs it could only be a valid reason that bailed us out of the longer (more painful) option. One of my friends has a herniated disc, excuse enough!
Each year the routes are on a different side of the village of Listrac-Médoc; passing through forest, countryside and local Chateaux. The particpating Chateaux open their doors to offer alternative refreshment for runners and walkers; degustation on the hoof. Post race there is a celebratory knees up in a local hall. I’ve been really impressed by the array of running events on offer in the Médoc, and it’s proven a great way to get to see more of the locality. Our friends at Chateau Capdet organise the event and I wish them all the best for another fantastic day.
We’ll also be launching our new running club, which is quite exciting; for us!
